Prowl was just going to go refuel in his quarters after a good, productive day of security analysis, energon in hand, when he spots Grimlock by his Habsuite??
And then the mortifying series of words comes out of the Dinobot's mouth, making embarassment creep up his struts again. How long is his one night out going to haunt him!?]
Ah, hello. It's good to see you Grimlock. I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about. That wasn't a date - it was just a night out, and I got a bit carried away. I don't remember much of what happened.
But you do hold hand thing. Him Spike say that for people who like each other.
[He's teasing Prowl now, just a bit.]
It better than stay in office all day.
[As far as he can remember, that's all Prowl did. Yes, he did come help fight Decepticons here and there, but Prowl never played like the Dinobots did. He never even went out for drives around town like his fellow Autobots. The only times he drove around was for "business."]
Holding hands doesn't necessarily mean it's a date...
[does he want to explain chriolinguistics to grimlock?]
Well, the parts I could remember weren't terrible. My duties here are a lot lighter than they are at home, I thought maybe I should make something of it.
[ opens the habsuite. grimlock is welcome to join him.]
...Nobody else heard that thing about the diplomats, did they?
[Grimlock hesitate for a moment. Usually being called into Prowl's territory means he's getting a lecture. But Prowl seems rather at ease now.]
[He stomps in, readying any number of insults to use against the rebukes Prowl might have for him. When no lectures ensue, he relaxes and lets go of much of his aggression. Shrugging, he answers Prowls' question.]
Me no know. There lots of people in bar. And it good thing. Diplomats boring.
[he laughs. well, it'll be unlikely magnus heard, at least??? ]
Well, I admit the temptation is there, but they're needed to avoid unneccesary deaths. Promise me you won't tear off any heads if we're ever in a diplomatic meeting, yeah?
[ prowl appears to be not in a terrible mood??? its nice. grimlock reminds him a little of the boisterous constructicons (although he'd never admit that he misses them).]
I was just going to refuel in my habsuite. I have more if you want to stick around.
[Grimlock sips at the energon and watches Prowl curiously.]
You remember presents for Grimlock?
[He's surprised, but also touched. Not only is new Prowl kinder than the Prowl he knows, but he's also kinder than most Autobots. The best thing he expects from most of his comrades in arms is mutual respect and keeping out of each other's way.]
It was really no trouble at all, Grimlock. I try not to disregard my promises.
[ Prowl would consider it him indulging in his own obsessions more than kindness. He would have started scouring around for different genres of music regardless, after all, and he was basically wired for rapidly crunching through information.
He sends the music files over to the other Autobot’s comm, to be played at his leisure. ]
I rather enjoyed the rhythmic complexities, despite the aggressive noise.
[He takes a quick listen of the music and nods in approval. As opposed to Prowl, his focus is on the repetitive guitar riffs, and the volume itself, the way that the sounds in his audial receptors can send tremors through the rest of his body.]
Me like it! It like Dinobot singing!
[He bounces up and down in his seat, his energon sloshing around in its container as he moves.]
Well, I’m glad to see you can appreciate such things.
[ Sipping very gingerly from his own energon glass. ]
I don’t really do the whole dancing thing… I just like to listen.
[ Analyzing the music was a nice little cerebral exercise for him. Mentally documenting the audio frequencies, the tempo, the layered and uneven 4-beat and 21-beat motifs interacting with each other…
It was almost like a cipher to decode for him, another matrix of data for his brain to drink in. Dancing was way more chaotic. ]

[He can't make any promises about being completely on his best behavior. That's just not how Dinobots work.]
Me thought you liked serious meeting stuff. Always doing it.
[This is a very strange offer from Prowl, but he does stay. He won't refuse extra fuel, and he has nothing better to do.]

[whether or not he enjoys it... well.]
Following up on our previous conversation, I scoured the R2's computer systems for aggressive music that may suit your fancy.
[he flips out his comm while procuring a cannister of energon for Grimlock, pushing the latter into his hand.]

[A large and loud slurp of his energon.]
It good feel music!
[Music, or at least the sort that he likes, gets him excited, and when he's excited he wants to move.]
