Security video feeds confirm Megatron's story. He transformed because something was trying to get under his armour (that something was 4) and lost control of his navigation, involuntarily being propelled through the ceiling. I already messaged Ratchet.
To: Prowl From: Star Saber (UN: StarSaber11) Subject: Acceptable and unacceptable Autobot behaviors Priority: Urgent
It has come to my attention that a certain Autobot named Getaway might have displayed a number of troubling behaviors in his home universe, including mutiny, attempted murder, and mental and possibly sexual abuse. I have been informed that you previously shared an intimate relationship with him. Can you corroborate any of these accusations?
[ Prowl is there to receive him, of course. He is nothing if not punctual. ]
Yes. Take a seat.
[ By the open door is a couch large enough to fit two average-sized mechs, suitable for some of Star Saber's size. His decorations are rather sparse and minimal, save for a gift here or there and the engex lined up neatly alongside some crystalware. ]
Before I begin, may you explain to me what you've heard of Getaway?
[He says as he seats himself on the couch. His hands are set flat, palms-downward, upon his lap. His posture is straight, though not stiff.]
I have been informed that Getaway seduced one of his fellow Autobots...
[He won't risk naming Tailgate and bringing undue attention to him.]
...so he could arrange for this Autobot to be killed by Megatron, and thus set the crew of his ship against Megatron. When that failed, he engaged in open mutiny. These are all very serious accusations.
[ Prowl serves himself a little engex, and offers to pour one for his fellow Autobot. It would do good to smooth out a difficult conversation (or at least, appear to do so) ]
I have spoken with multiple members of the Lost Light's crew and they have, unfortunately, corroborated similar stories. What you've mentioned is hardly the worst or the most macabre thing he's done.
Getaway and I worked closely together at times during the war, so it pained me to learn that he'd gone down such a contemptible path.
[ the lamentable tone in his voice comes from an earnest place. ]
Unfortunately, the civil war in our home universe was quite brutal. It left marks on every Cybertronian it touched, regardless of faction. In order to defeat the Decepticons, there were many regrettable things every one of us were forced to do.
Occasionally, that will result in Autobots who have difficulty adjusting to peace.
But no, between us there were no ills. Nothing serious, anyway. I was Optimus Prime's strategist - I was aware of his darker nature from the start.
[He looks up at Prowl, his optics holding nothing but sympathy.]
Was your world really so cruel? In mine, we were all stained with the blood of the battlefield, but we had leaders like Optimus Prime. We were taught to always remember our compassion, and to never lose sight of justice. I am proud to say that for all the dangers we have faced, my Autobots have lived up to the ideals Optimus Prime set out for us.
And even if cover operations were needed against the Decepticons...
[He winces. It hurts to admit that Getaway, repulsive as his actions are, might have served a purpose in the war.]
...he should not have hurt his fellow Autobots. Why is he still allowed to wear our emblem?
Getaway was born an Autobot. In a moment of desperation, his spark was thawed out of cold storage, placed in a body, and his mind was installed with the subroutines only necessary for combat. He was given a gun at a few hours old and tossed overboard into the nearest battlefield.
Violence is all he's ever known, and it would be immensely cruel to tear away what little he has left.
[ Prowl is acutely aware of the horror of it all. He'd given the order many times himself to commission MTO battalions, feeling something chip away at him every time all that life was guzzled away. ]
Besides, it would be dishonest of me to pretend that Getaway is not a product of the Autobot machine the same as Kup or Springer or Optimus Prime is. I hope you understand.
Yes. I will not ignore his crimes, but I will keep in mind he was never shown anything better.
[He rises from the couch, the new knowledge he acquired about Getaway's world weighing heavily upon him.]
From what I have heard, you and Getaway, and Tailgate, and Ravage, and everyone else who hails from your world, were victims of a cruel and unjust war. You have my condolences.
While it is helpful to understand Getaway, I'd advise you against pitying him. If you proceed to get close to him, he will hurt you. He'll hurt you in ways you didn't think possible.
He didn't just mutiny against his ship, the crewmembers of the Lost Light were butchered. Mutilated. Their minds used as toys. Their bodies sacrificed as fuel for his ambitions. There were horrors I hesitate to say out loud inflicted on that ship.
He is a monster of our own making, but he is, in fact, a monster. You will give him every opportunity to course correct. He won't.
[ and now Prowl does sip, looking solemnly at his glass. he should thank Ratchet some time for being so descriptive of Getaway's acts on the Lost Light. ]
Perhaps, in that way, it was foolish of me to hope otherwise. I don't wish to see you experience the same thing.
[Star Saber is hesitant as he begins speaking again.]
I would still like to try. I wish to make peace with the Decepticons of my world, and that means finding a way to deal with some of the worst scourges the cosmos has ever seen. If I cannot even reach to a troubled Autobot, what hope have I to reach out to the Decepticons?
[He smiles, a shaky smile devoid of his usual confidence.]
Thank you for clarifying everything to me, Prowl. Are any of the crew of the Lost Light aboard right now? I would like to speak to them, know more about Getaway's crimes and the impact they had.
[He can tell there might other motivation than just concern for Prowl's hesitation. Compared to his earlier demeanor, his behavior now is too pitch-perfect. But he won't question Prowl about it. He's already dug too deeply into Prowl's old wounds.]
I don't know what I can do to help soothe the pain that the war has left in your spark.
[As he admits this, he feels like he failed as a commander. Prowl is not under his command, nor even from his universe. Yet Ginrai, and all the Autobots back in his world, had trusted him to inherit the mantle of Autobot leaders past, to be a warrior of love and justice as they had. Now this "warrior of love" is powerless to help a suffering comrade, because he can only begin to comprehend the pain and horror of the Great War in another world.]
Though...I am currently setting up a religious study group, so everyone here can come together and take comfort in their faith. I think it would do you good if you could come to a meeting.
I appreciate the sentiment, but I've always leaned towards a secular view of things. I suppose you must find this ironic given I'd been at Optimus' side since the beginning. I am a logician, in the end.
[ A prayer circle sounds dreadfully boring. He still manages to be cordial, though. ]
Unless you are not bothered by an academic reading of your texts.
[He knows prayers alone are scant comfort, but he feels powerless to do anything other than pray that Primus will grant the suffering Autobots of this other world peace of mind.]
Of course not. I would appreciate your presence and your analysis very much.
[He makes ready to leave.]
Thank you for your insight. And...if you every need any help, please contact me,
