[ Yikes, Catty. And he's supposed to be trying to be nice. ]
This isn't an apology, because you deserved it and I don't think I did anything wrong. I do want to try and... mend bridges or whatever you want to call it. Especially if we're both going to be stuck here for a while.
[Whoops, he meant to start this out in his usual sexy cool and confident way but he instead sounds like a 13 year old after his first date.]
I feel like there's a couple things we forgot to discuss.
[He's talking about all the other stuff they were supposed to talk about before everything veered wildly off the deep end, but Prowl can misinterpret that however much he wants.]
[Prowl is dealing with his feelings the way he usually does: burying himself in work. He's got plenty of security assessing to do when he gets Getaway's call.]
Is there anything to discuss? I assumed we both agreed to the part with 'no strings attached'.
[ he vaguely remembers that and hes trying real hard to repress any romantic inclinations.]
It was not unpleasant though, despite the rude awakening.
Because he's literally my ex and I feel like it's my duty to tell you that he is a terrible, awful person. With all his gaslighting and manipulating, and his fake "I love yous," he actually the worst?
Surely you can do better.
I think some of the Megatrons are single. Try one of them.
But I was talking about the report I was supposed to give you about my activities aboard the Lost Light, and all the other stuff we were supposed to talk about before we got, uh, sidetracked.
[SIGH. how to explain to Tailgate that the dynamics were actually kinda fucked in the opposite direction?? It was weird having people show concern for him. ]
I'm well aware of his dishonest nature. As I told you before, I've no interest in dating.
We got carried away one evening due to drinks. It happens.
[Prowl is waiting for him, realizing this little stunt of theirs would be a perfect cover story for any covert communication they wished to do. Maybe this whole 'dating' misinterpretation could be used to their advantage.
When Getaway arrives, he is officious and in-control and perfectly sober. Not the least bit the vulnerable Autobot of the nights prior. Maybe he can make this work after all.]
We should keep this under an hour, before the Vehicons pay too close attention.
[The vibe is very stern right now though, but Getaway can work with this. Getaway sits himself down on the couch and waits for Prowl to sit down next to him. He holds out his hands, waiting for the other Autobot to take them while allowing his gaze to appreciatively travel up and down Prowl's body. Prowl isn't too much taller than him, but he is wider and more compact. Getaway remembers from that night that he is very heavy, and he's kind of into that.]
[Prowl notices Getaway checking him out. Yes. He has a body. He's had his frame commented on multiple times since the Earth mission and it was getting old. He looks back at Getaway with the most clinical stare he can muster to communicate that this was business.
Then, sitting down on the couch, he grasps his hands.]
Let's begin with the second departure of the Lost Light. Megatron's presence must have left an ominous air on the ship, I imagine.
I had a plan in place before we departed. I was planning on taking Rodimus' ship, with or without Megatron there, but him being there worked in my favour. His presence didn't exactly generate a lot of goodwill towards Autobot high command.
Weeding out all the ones who were sympathetic to Megatron was easy. Especially with the nudge gun.
[Which he thinks Prowl wants to ask about too. Despite the nature of their conversation, Getaway allows his touch to to linger between words, or to run a little further along Prowl's fingers in a way that's considered sensual in chirolinguistics. The tension in the room cranks up a notch.]
[His expression sharpens. He can sense Getaway's intentions, but opts to ignore them. His words remain entirely airtight and clean.]
Keeping the nudge gun and taking Rodimus' ship runs outside your mission parameters. Is there a reason you decided to pursue this? With lack of communication, no less. Under ordinary circumstances this would be considered going rogue.
[It is a bit of a reprimand, but it is not too scathing. He wants to inquire and know Getaway's answers.]
[Getaway's hands tightens for a moment, before loosening.]
Because I wanted to get the job done, and Rodimus wasn't cutting it. He was always meandering about, answering every distress signal, taking on every possible adventure. If it was left up to him, then it would have taken us centuries to finally reach Cyberpedia and find the Knights of Cybertron. The lack of communication was a... side effect of everything that happened.
So I guess I did go rogue. Sorry, boss.
[With an amused expression that says he's not very sorry at all.]
[Strangely enough, Prowl doesn't seem too upset. Hadn't he also gone rogue by disobeying and undermining Optimus? It was apparently enough to kick him off planet.]
I'm sure Megatron was banking on that.
[Prowl manages to squeeze quite a bit of bitterness into the expression of his fingers. His mouth pulls back into a wry smile.]
Your sentiments are not unfounded. From the perspective of someone who's served under multiple Primes, I have a bit of insight for you.
